Custom Awards & Event Collateral

Aquis Park Gold Coast - The TAB Wave Raceday

The TAB Wave and Aquis race days held annually at Aquis Park on the Gold Coast was once again a hit this year! The 2021 summer carnival horseracing event features a number of different races, showcasing the best of racing talent over two weekends.

This years awards once again pay homage to the Gold Coast culture, showcasing acrylic and timber surfboard silhouettes. Layers of timber have been mounted to the surfboards to reflect the waves lapping up onto the sand, whilst the clear acrylic symbolises the crystal clear gold coast water. The Aquis Gold Nugget & Aquis Gold Pearl awards include a resin encapsulated pearl and gold nugget in the center of the surfboard. These details create an interesting feature to contrast against the Australian timber elements.

These awards definitely steal the stage, Contact us today to create your next event trophies!

Magic Millions 2021 Gold Coast Racing Womens Bonus

Successfully completing its ninth year, the Magic Millions women’s racing initiative has been a groundbreaking first for women within the horse racing industry. This accolade not only promotes racehorse ownership amongst women, but also highlights the imperative roles performed by females throughout the industry.

This years trophies were designed to reflect this prestigious initiative and showcase the sophistication shown throughout the carnival. Negative space has been left in the center of the award to create a light and airy gesture like the movement of a racehorse galloping when all their legs are completely off the ground. We designed this feature with the idiom, “run like the wind”, in mind.

We were able to utilise a variety of materials to create the desired effect. An aluminium inlay through the centre of these trophies creates an elegant and eye-catching feature. The silver horse motif has been broken down to resemble the different muscle groups of a horse. The use of deep mahogany coloured timber against the clear acrylic and silver elements make this trophy a distinct and high-end piece, perfect for all trophy cabinets.

The Event Agency - Falls Festival Green Stall Award

The Falls Festival coordinators strive to minimise any negative impact on the environment during their festival they hold over the New Year. To reduce their carbon footprint, they have in place many procedures that prevent possible negative effects on the environment. One of those procedures is the ‘Falls Green Stall Award’; this initiative promotes environmental sustainability, while also rewarding the winner for their efforts.

We were able to design a perpetual trophy for this festival that incorporates the same values as their initiative. Our team put together a design, based around a reclaimed piece of timber. The block features laser etched details, and green acrylic that was recycled from one of our previous jobs to make sure this trophy was 100% made from recycled materials. The green detail against the dark timber adds a pop of vibrant colour. The side of the piece features the same green acrylic cut into small plaques, which allows the festival to update the winners each year.

Gold Coast Turf Club Trophy

We have been lucky enough to work with the Gold Coast Turf Club on multiple occasions, producing a range of different trophies and awards, for their horse racing events. We recently designed a perpetual trophy for the Gold Coast Cup race at the Royal Randwick racetrack in Sydney. A perpetual award allows the client to continue adding winners for years to come, which is a great way to honour a legacy event.

Our team used a mix of materials and techniques to bring this piece to life. Layered and printed acrylic reveals the Surfers Paradise skyline, with the blue ocean hues layered in the background. The blonde Australian timber has pattern details laser cut into the surface to reveal beautiful gold-mirrored embellishments glistening underneath. Gold plaques line the edges of the award to provide spaces for the yearly winners.

Nautique Perpetual

Nautique contacted us back in 2019 to create a perpetual trophy for their distinguished Masters Waterski and Wakeboard tournament. The award was designed to be updated each year to honour the event champions.

The trophy features crisp laser etched logos, a beautiful walnut timber, milled aluminium layers and engravable plaques with enough space for 48 consecutive years. On top of the base sits the silver champion cup that is adorned with ribbons. The base features a recessed space on top so the cup can sit tightly on the base or be taken out for photos.

The size, weight and finish of the piece cannot be conveyed in photos. The final product was a real showstopper and we were very proud to be a part of this project.

Aquis Park - Racing Industry Awards

Aquis park had their annual racing industry awards in August of 2019, which celebrates the season and awards those who have been outstanding in their field. We were able to design and produce a custom presentation box to house a golden horseshoe, which was supplied by the client.

The box itself has been hand veneered, featuring laser etching and a laser cut filigree design. The purple behind the laser cut filigree really helps make the design pop, and breaks up the timber tones nicely. This piece also features gold mirror details with the client’s logo, to add a touch of luxury. Inside the horseshoe fits snuggly within the custom foam holder.

Norbit Awards 2017

We recently found this project back in our 2017 archives! We had the opportunity to put these awards together for Norbit, a multibeam sonar manufacturer that provides services around the globe. Norbit provided us with a sonar image of a seabed, with this in mind we were able to put together a custom design featuring one of their sonar map images, that is able to reflect the different depth levels.

This trophy comes to life through the use of layered acrylic and timber sections. The timber features the laser etched title and branding, and the printed acrylic builds up the sonar map depths creating a 3D map effect.

Nautique – Dealers Awards

One of the more recent projects we have worked on for Nautique are the 2019 Dealers awards. The Nautique brand are always encouraging and rewarding their stockists and staff for their achievements and progress.

The trophies have been designed to be very geometric and angular, which merges in with the Nautique action sport branding. Through the use of timber, acrylic, anodised aluminium and exposed dome screws, this design provides a very tactile and stylish solution for any awards event. Having a gap between the acrylic and aluminium also provides an added sense of depth throughout the piece.

Like the look of anodised aluminium? See how we can utilise it in your next job. Contact us today to find out more.

Charter - Spectrum Mobile

The industrial design team at Charter Communications approached us with a concept they had in mind for a small desk size trophy. Charter Communications, Inc. is an American telecommunications company that provides services to over 26 million customers and is the second-largest cable operator in the United States.

After discussion and prototyping with our design team, a finalised trophy was put in to production. The final design features layers of acrylic, laser cut at varying angles is housed in a hand veneered box. The box features subtle embossed embellishments on 2 sides, and a black acrylic title plate on the adjacent side.

This design is aesthetic from all sides, due to the angles used throughout the acrylic elements.

It was great to collaborate with the team at Charter and to bring their design to life.

Amazon SaaS Awards 2020

We were honored to collaborate with Amazon on this project. Amazon Web Services SaaS Factory is the technical side of Amazon. It provides direct access to technical and business content, best practices, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for their clients.

When it came to design the award, we started off with a solid piece of American walnut milled to shape. We then chose to embellish custom laser cut pieces of maple, to give it a nice color contrast and to add depth. We then finalised the piece by laser etching the award details.

Magic Millions Country Cup 2020

We were super excited to work with the Magic Millions Carnival this year. Attracting global attention, this race meeting is one of the top 10 richest in the world!

The trophies that we designed for the Country Cup highlight the prestige that comes with winning the event. The elements featured within this trophy include gold mirror acrylic and timber, which have both been laser cut and etched. Another cool feature is the blue aluminium used in the shadow of the horse head. This was achieved using a process called anodisation, which gives the metal a very rich colour.

These elements come together to create a sophisticated and unique trophy, fit for a Magic Millions race win. We love how these trophies turned out, and hope to do more projects like this in the future!

NASA - Interactive Awards

We recently had the huge privilege to work with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland on a very special project. The Goddard space flight center has “More than 50 Goddard spacecraft explore Earth and soar through the solar system, collecting observations to be parsed and studied by scientists around the world. Goddard’s missions support multiple scientific disciplines, including Earth science, solar science and the sun-Earth environment, planetary studies and astrophysics.” (https://www.nasa.gov/goddard)

For this project we were asked to design and create an interactive award. The award needed to relate to the scientific nature of the center and also be structurally sound for the next 10 years, as this was to be a perpetual award. After much research, we decided to design a rolling ball maze game. In total we created two awards, the Science award, which was based around our solar system, and the Engineering award, which was based around the satellite missions that have launched from the flight center. The rolling ball maze game has been designed for a space marble to roll around a maze, through and behind planets, stars and satellites and into the center of the award. The maze can be quite a feat considering the award stands at 23 inches tall!

Besides the interactive maze game in the center of the award, this award also features 3D laser etched timber details, engraveable plaques on the sides of the awards for the winning recipients and gold metallic mirror details to give the awards a retro arcade game feel.

Our clients were thrilled with the outcome and so were we! If you have an project that needs some creative flare, Contact us today to find out how we can help.
