Granddad Jacks - Leather Whiskey Labels

Granddad Jack’s is the first Gold Coast based Craft Distillery in Australia, focusing their talents on creating small batch spirits and liqueurs. Their distillery has won multiple international awards for their signature gins and coffee liqueur. Their exclusive Bailiff Whiskey batches are all single barrel releases, making them all completely unique.

Due to the handcrafted nature of the whiskey, the team at Granddad Jack’s wanted a label to match these limited run releases. The bottle features a custom black leather label with laser-etched textural elements to showcase the brand. These tactile elements tie in nicely with the black hand waxed seal that encapsulates the bottle.

The outcome was modern and sophisticated. Contact us today to organise your custom branding!

Magic Millions 2021 Gold Coast Racing Womens Bonus

Successfully completing its ninth year, the Magic Millions women’s racing initiative has been a groundbreaking first for women within the horse racing industry. This accolade not only promotes racehorse ownership amongst women, but also highlights the imperative roles performed by females throughout the industry.

This years trophies were designed to reflect this prestigious initiative and showcase the sophistication shown throughout the carnival. Negative space has been left in the center of the award to create a light and airy gesture like the movement of a racehorse galloping when all their legs are completely off the ground. We designed this feature with the idiom, “run like the wind”, in mind.

We were able to utilise a variety of materials to create the desired effect. An aluminium inlay through the centre of these trophies creates an elegant and eye-catching feature. The silver horse motif has been broken down to resemble the different muscle groups of a horse. The use of deep mahogany coloured timber against the clear acrylic and silver elements make this trophy a distinct and high-end piece, perfect for all trophy cabinets.

Gold Coast Turf Club Trophy

We have been lucky enough to work with the Gold Coast Turf Club on multiple occasions, producing a range of different trophies and awards, for their horse racing events. We recently designed a perpetual trophy for the Gold Coast Cup race at the Royal Randwick racetrack in Sydney. A perpetual award allows the client to continue adding winners for years to come, which is a great way to honour a legacy event.

Our team used a mix of materials and techniques to bring this piece to life. Layered and printed acrylic reveals the Surfers Paradise skyline, with the blue ocean hues layered in the background. The blonde Australian timber has pattern details laser cut into the surface to reveal beautiful gold-mirrored embellishments glistening underneath. Gold plaques line the edges of the award to provide spaces for the yearly winners.

Surf Life Saving South Australia - Hall of Fame

Surf Life Saving South Australia recently contacted us to redesign their Hall of Fame Awards. These newly updated awards will be proudly displayed at their headquarters for many years to come.

The pieces feature a real surf life saving cap, captured behind acrylic, and framed by Australian native timber. The laser cut wave details add depth to the piece, with the laser etching showcasing the award recipient. Our production team did an amazing job finishing this piece, creating a silky smooth timber finish.

Amazon SaaS Awards 2020

We were honored to collaborate with Amazon on this project. Amazon Web Services SaaS Factory is the technical side of Amazon. It provides direct access to technical and business content, best practices, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for their clients.

When it came to design the award, we started off with a solid piece of American walnut milled to shape. We then chose to embellish custom laser cut pieces of maple, to give it a nice color contrast and to add depth. We then finalised the piece by laser etching the award details.

Aether Award 2020

We recently worked on an exciting project with Tributary Design studio to design and produce an award for one of their clients.

The award was designed around the 4 core values of the company with their logo being the centre-piece. The trophy begins with layers of printed acrylics in a variety of colors, in order to create a warm gradient effect. We then placed laser-etched timber on either side of the piece, introducing a softer, more organic feel.

Gilimbaa Signage Fitout

We were recently approached by Gilimbaa to help with a creative fit out for one of the Shell offices. Gilimbaa are a Brisbane based company who specialise in strategic and connected communication design, for and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This office fit out design allowed us to work with shapes and experiment on our machinery in ways we normally wouldn’t get the chance to.

These room signs were CNC Routed out of solid pieces of Tasmanian Oak, allowing beautiful blonde tones to be showcased through the final project. We were able to incorporate a rounded more natural edge to give the shape a more organic look. Laser etching was utilised for the text and imagery, which has reinforced the natural and flowing style of this project.

This was a really fun project for us to work on. We accomplished some great results and learnt some new techniques along the way!

The Sound Society - A Frame

The Sound Society is a free event, hosted by Brisbane City Council, which allows talented musicians to put on a show for the general public. Offering laid back tunes, on site food vendors, and plenty of space for a picnic rug, these events shouldn’t be missed!

This A-Frame has been designed to bring a new edge to and old classic. The timber and print combination allow for vibrant imagery yet give a soft more organic feel with the timber grain coming through. These are a great choice for events, cafes, restaurants, and businesses that want to advertise their services in an eye catching way.

NASA - Interactive Awards

We recently had the huge privilege to work with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland on a very special project. The Goddard space flight center has “More than 50 Goddard spacecraft explore Earth and soar through the solar system, collecting observations to be parsed and studied by scientists around the world. Goddard’s missions support multiple scientific disciplines, including Earth science, solar science and the sun-Earth environment, planetary studies and astrophysics.” (https://www.nasa.gov/goddard)

For this project we were asked to design and create an interactive award. The award needed to relate to the scientific nature of the center and also be structurally sound for the next 10 years, as this was to be a perpetual award. After much research, we decided to design a rolling ball maze game. In total we created two awards, the Science award, which was based around our solar system, and the Engineering award, which was based around the satellite missions that have launched from the flight center. The rolling ball maze game has been designed for a space marble to roll around a maze, through and behind planets, stars and satellites and into the center of the award. The maze can be quite a feat considering the award stands at 23 inches tall!

Besides the interactive maze game in the center of the award, this award also features 3D laser etched timber details, engraveable plaques on the sides of the awards for the winning recipients and gold metallic mirror details to give the awards a retro arcade game feel.

Our clients were thrilled with the outcome and so were we! If you have an project that needs some creative flare, Contact us today to find out how we can help.

Yokohama GT3 Cup Trophies

We were pleased to work with Yokohama again last year for another exciting GT3 Cup Challenge.

Staying within the Yokohama style we have designed in the past, we have incorporated materials and design elements based around the sleek but industrial nature of the brand. Utilising anodised aluminium, stainless steel dome bolts, and black japan stained timber, this piece portrays a strong yet elegant vibe. Each trophy displays the corresponding racetrack in an embossed silver mirror detail, as well as the white track name in the floating acrylic.

We love creating fresh looks that work within the same design style; we can’t wait to work with Yokohama again soon!

Magic Millions - Women's Bonus

We were very lucky at the end of last year to be involved in a project that is all about supporting women! The Magic Millions racing women’s bonus is all about recognising women in racing and racehorse ownership amongst women. Now in its eighth year, this incentive is promoting the important roles played by women in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. We were approached by the Magic Millions to design an iconic award that would represent the importance of the race.

These stunning trophies feature a mixture of electroplated metals in several types of finishes to create a beautifully unique 3D effect. The racehorse motif was designed around the main muscles a horse uses to gallop. These lines were also stylised to reflect the waves of the iconic Gold Coast beaches. The metals along with the cut out relief areas allow depth and movement in the piece.

The species of timber used in this piece grows native to the Gold Coast and also has a warm sandy tone to it. The timber has been laser etched which brings another tactile element to the award.

These elements combined create a sophisticated, 3D layered trophy, truly meant for a race winner.

QLD Government – Premiers Awards for Excellence 2019

The Premier’s Awards for Excellence is an initiative of the Queensland Government to acknowledge the exemplary work by individuals and teams across the Queensland public sector. We had the amazing opportunity to design and produce these trophies for the Queensland government to present at their ceremony.

The design was based around the existing event brand collateral, in particular the multi-coloured star motif representing the different categories. It features acrylic printed elements that promote the award category and the winners. We’ve incorporated a South-east Queensland timber into this trophy. Where possible, we like to use timbers that are relevant to our client’s projects, especially for location specific events as it allows the winners to take a “part” of Queensland home with them.
