Apart from our usual corporate projects we also love to create personalised items for small local clients like these custom wedding invitations.
Our clients were inspired by nature and wanted a rustic feel to be reflected in their invitations for their upcoming wedding. They also wanted to create something that would be a beautiful reminder on the fridge rather than the traditional paper invite, after all most invites are sent out months before the event.
For the main invitation, a locally sourced timber was printed and laser cut with an intricate floral filigree. A printed card with information on the event was placed on top of the invite to soften the overall look; these pieces were then bound together with a length of twine, to really tie back into the rustic vibe.
A beautiful outcome for a beautiful event, the clients were very happy with the unique outcome! If you would like some custom designed invitations for your special event, contact us today and see how we help!
Raw Espresso is a cafe located on the Gold Coast who serves up a great cup of coffee along with tasty fresh meals and juices. Working with them before on various custom projects, Raw Espresso turned to us again to create a custom wooden bike detail for their custom built bike! Isn’t it a beauty!
Using a stained timber, the shape laser cut and etched with retro typography. The finished look came out amazing in the darker timber and it stands out great against the bright blue bike!

Youi is a leading insurance company who prides itself on being one of the most competitive insurers in the business. They get to know its customers and their lifestyle to provide them with a great price and real savings.
At the end of last year Youi requested us to create a collection of trophies for their upcoming Core Business Values Awards, recognising the achievements of their employees.
Using black, white and clear acrylic, the trophies were pieced together layer by layer and also included some acrylic elements that were adhered to the surfaces for a 3D effect through the layers. We love the sharp contrast between the black and white acrylic in these trophies.

Located in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast, the Blue Heron Motel offers a great stay for all kinds of travellers being so central to the many tourist attractions the Gold Coast has to offer.
To give life to the newly renovated motel, the owners contacted us to create some key tags that had a bit more of a modern tropical feel then your average plastic room key. Using an Australian native timber we printed the logo and other information on one side then flipped them over to etch in the room numbers and palm leaf pattern.
We love the simple but effective outcome of these, it will hopefully be something their guests will admire! If you are looking at having some custom yet functional promotional products made for your local business, contact us today to see how we can help out!
Hurley is an internationally recognised surf apparel brand who aim to create products to enhance and make your experience in the water fun. Endorsed by bands such as Blink-182 and All Time Low the brand also sponsors many events and athletes around the world.
For Hurley’s latest point-of-sale marketing campaign we created a simple design to be rolled out in stores across Australia. The signs are a combination of black board, laser cut white acrylic letters and black metal stands. These stands are viewed from both sides and really encompass the sleek and clean essence of the Hurley brand. The best thing about this signage is that the main “Hurley” part of the signage can be updated with special sale offers, different logos or even photos depending on the season or style the brand wants to roll out. The options are endless, which makes these signs a long-term signage solution.

Based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast QLD, The Mad Hueys is a fishing crew, who love to fish, surf and drink beer and with their name they have created an apparel brand that is sold globally.
To create some point-of-sale display stands, the team at The Mad Hueys contacted us to help out. They needed something that would be placed on a table and can be easily moved, assembled and dismantled. So we created a system of acrylic inserts, the middles with a different image on both sides and the front and back pieces to have the logos. These would then insert into wooden bases for an easy install!

Connect recently approached us to create some awards for an upcoming event to commend businesses that have excelled in the areas of transportation.
Choosing to run with our signature layered style trophy with acrylic and timber pieces, the acrylic was printed with different elements to create a 3D effect and also incorporated their colours and symbols for each category. The awards were then finished off with a timber plaque and laser etched details.

Well it is that time of year again and what better way to celebrate than producing some laser cut Christmas cards.
This is a previous job we did for River City Solutions in Brisbane. We designed, Printed and Laser cut these custom cards for them to send out to their clients. The layering turned out great and the intricate detail that we can get from our laser is always amazing.
The guys were stoked with the final product and so were we!

Their buildings are award winning and span all over the world; just some of their most well known projects include The Sydney Opera House, The London Eye and The Beijing Stadium (Bird’s Nest).
As part of a reconciliation with traditional owners of the land in Australia, Arup wanted to pay their respects and have some custom plaques made for their different office locations that would honour the traditional owners. Using Australian native timber, each panel was laser etched and placed inside a custom in-house made frame featuring laser cut indigenous inspired illustrations created by Gilimbaa.

An impressive events centre capable of hosting more than 2,500 guests, the Aquis Park Gold Coast Turf Club is primarily known as one of Australia’s busiest racecourses while also being host to a large number of public and private events, from conferences and expos to gala dinners, exhibitions, holiday parties and more.
With gorgeous panoramic views of the Gold Coast skyline and all the most popular modern amenities, the Gold Coast Turf Club is home to an annual sprint race for the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival – called the Bat Out Of Hell – and has been since 1996. A 900 metre feature sprint race with participants traveling from far and wide from across Australia, the annual Bat Out Of Hell winner receives a $90,000 prize and a Harley Davidson as a trainer’s bonus, not to mention a custom award to showcase for themselves.
This year we were tasked with creating a a custom award for this unique honour, and faced the challenge head on with our team of dedicated and creative professionals. Designed to incorporate elements of the Gold Coast and broader Australian lifestyle, we chose native Australian timber from southeast Queensland to encapsulate the award, adding a mixture of printed acrylic to bring depth to the design.
Custom designed to include the iconic skyline seen from the Gold Coast Turf Club, as well as waves and sand elements that speak to the Goldie way of life, the award is a testament to the level of precision and thoughtfulness we aim to incorporate into all of our custom award designs.
We thoroughly enjoyed making this one-of-a-kind award, and look forward to assisting you with your next custom award need on the Gold Coast or beyond. Contact us directly at [email protected] to speak with us about your ideas.
Potato Press is a Gold Coast based design company that specialises in creating unique and memorable products across a wide range of industries. So, when the Commonwealth Games Committee approached us to discuss designing the medal boxes for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, our team unsurprisingly jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this historic event.
Taking place every four years, the Commonwealth Games took place on the Gold Coast shores from the 4th to the 15th of April 2018. The multi-sport event invited members of the Commonwealth to compete, with more than 4,400 athletes, including 300 para-athletes, from 71 Commonwealth Games Associations, taking part. Potato Press were honoured to be able to contribute to this piece of Gold Coast history.
The design and construction
The design and construction of the medal boxes was no easy feat. 1,600 individual pieces were required, and it took a great deal of work and coordination to ensure they were all uniform and finished to the highest standard. At Potato Press we pride ourselves on thinking outside the box and wanted to create something nostalgic that could be treasured for many years to come. We wanted athletes to take something home that paid testament to all the hard work they had put into winning the medals contained within.
The finished products were made from Australian Blackbutt timber, with every piece hand finished, taking up to 2-3 days to complete. The laser cut boxes resembled a stylised version of the sand and waves that line the iconic Gold Coast shore. Looking down through the cut outs to the medal within, invoked the feeling of looking through the water to the seabed. With the ocean forming such an important part of the Gold Coast experience, it made perfect sense to incorporate these features into the design.
An exciting project for our entire team!
“To know that the fastest man or woman at the Commonwealth Games, or some of the 4,400 athletes competing are going to be taking these pieces all across the world is phenomenal.”
The internal timber facia was inscribed with the three driving words behind the 2018 Commonwealth Games: Humanity. Equality. Destiny. Our team were enamoured by the embodiment of this message across the event, and the hardworking crew who worked on the medal boxes look forward to contributing to the rich and thriving culture of the Gold Coast through more innovative and exciting projects.
