Introduced by the Queensland government, the Start Playing Stay Playing initiative shines light on female achievements in the local sports and recreation industries, as well as individuals and organisations that work to boost sports and recreation opportunities for women living across Queensland, Australia.
With a twice-annual awards ceremony honouring the categories of Inclusion, Innovation and Inspiration, as well as a once yearly Minister’s Excellence Award for the winners of the previous categories, we were honoured to produce customised trophies for the 2016 Start Playing Stay Playing Excellence Awards Ceremony.
Incorporating their existing branding and armed with a desire to create something unique, eye-catching and memorable, our talented in-house production team designed the custom trophies with the illusion of floating in mind.
By employing several different engineering techniques, as well as using quality materials such as printed clear acrylic and Australian blackbutt hardwood timber with laser etching, we were able to exceed the client’s expectations and provide remarkable trophies for deserving individuals and organisations across Queensland.
We recognise the importance of leading an active lifestyle, whether for your health or personal well-being, and were honoured to create a keepsake as part of this year’s Awards celebration.

These custom trophies were made for the The Jim Moran Classic which is a major Golf and Tennis tournament held in Orlando, Florida each year. It is organised by The Youth Automotive Training Centre and feature some major American sports stars hitting it out for the title. From all accounts they all loved the trophies we designed and produced for them and couldn’t wait to take them home.
The guys over at Granny Smith Festival wanted us to create something special for them, so we came up with these layered optical custom trophies which have great visual impact. With the sharp vibrant colours mixed with brass and timber we couldn’t be happier with the end result!
This was a trophy created for CBC Fremantle for a perpetual surfing award, using custom cut layers and custom colours to create this stylised wave piece.
This was one of the first jobs we did with our new router. We were approached by the team at The Really Quite Good Ideas Company to come up with a powder coated aluminium cover for a project they were putting together for Yellow Cover. The cover had to be quite industrial looking due to the nature of the business. The most challenging part of the whole job was coming up with a suitable binding system which was both practical and looked great.
We just recently completed some Custom Joinery & Environmental Graphic Fitout for DLX Agencies, which put our design and joinery skills at work. Who are the agency for Hurley, Nike and Converse here on the Gold Coast. As you can see the space looks modern, simple and crisp for these premium brands. The client brief was to supply a look that would compliment the premium brands.
The job entailed 4 solid waterfall edged free standing showroom tables, 2 ‘a-frame’ counter levered solid timber shoe shelving displays. And 1 giant boardroom table (which had to be lifted in by 6 people due to the weight of the hardwood!) all made with A-grade Australian “Blackbutt” hardwood. All has been finished with natural furniture wax for a great natural wood tone and a crisp matte black paint for a subtle accent.
The guys at The Robina Group keep us busy with great custom work that they use to spice up their showrooms, and with a new development up an running they needed some more cool items. A custom cut and printed A frame for outside the showroom, and some custom door hangers to let people know that they’re open for business! A custom TV surround for around the touch screen inside the showroom. Some more samples boards which slide into drawers underneath a joined timber framed corkboard map to identify which areas have been sold. This all looks fantastic all together in their environment and carries the branding through the whole showroom. So let us know if you need custom showroom environmental graphics and you’ll get a great finish to spice up your area.
Here’s some cool laser etched custom cocktail taps we created for Bacardi. With a custom shape blackboard attached on the back so the different cocktails can be fully updated, it creates a cool ‘vintage’ but stylish style. The Palm tree handle were constructed to fit onto already existing bar taps to be used as the handles for the bar tenders. Made in house from Tasmanian Oak, and custom illustration done by our creative director. These are a part of an Australian wide promotion, so you can check them out at a bar/hotel near you! Bacardi – Custom Cocktail Taps.
Once again we have worked with the good people of Brisbane Marketing and Sharon Penny Designs to create some signage and installation pieces for the Regional Flavours Food Festival at Southbank, Brisbane. This year we have reconditioned a large freestanding wall for the Hunting Club tent. We refurbished and constructed the new archway and designed a custom wallpaper design mixed with asian inspired imagery and a concrete background to compliment the Asian Fusion menu. As well as the usual freestanding printed timber signs, beer samplers paddles, printed timber cube seating and custom timber menus. All in all another great event we were glad to be a part of.
We were aproached by the Campbelltown Shire Council to create this custom timber commemorative awards. The awards consisted of Australian Blackbutt, Tasmanian Oak, Red Cedar, Iron bark (Which was from a tree that was felled from the local Army barracks) and Pine which was a direct decendant of the Lone Pine from Gallipoli, sourced from the Inverell RSL. It was a great project to be invovled in.
We were approached by the QLD Premier’s Department to create an award for the QLD 2015 Premier’s Reconciliation Award. This award was to go to organisations helping to shape and improve the future of Queensland’s reconciliation. The ceremony was so they have the opportunity to receive their rightful acknowledgement through these prestigious awards. The Queensland Theatre Company (QTC) and Sibelco Australia have taken out the 2015 Premier’s Reconciliation Award for an all-company Indigenous Program led from the stage by the critically-acclaimed production, Black Diggers. We constructed this great stylised, layered and unique award to compliment the distinguished and important event.
The guys over at Endeavour beer asked us to create some custom point of sale for the beer taps at pubs and bars. So we came up with these Timber Beer Tap Decals which were laser etched and UV printed assembled pieces. Looking a bit industrial, but still clean and tidy; they’re surely bound to grab your attention at the bar.
