City of Ryde - Women in Local Government

We were contacted earlier this year by the City of Ryde council, asking if we could design a piece of celebratory art for International Women’s day. We of course jumped at the chance to be a part of such a special project. This commemorative piece highlights all women who have served in local government, starting with the first who woman who served in 1954, Mrs Edna Wilde OAM. We also incorporated blank space into the design to allow for future female leaders to be added, as well as serving as a daily reminder to take action for inclusion and equality.

This multi-layered project highlights native Australian Timbers and bursts of colour throughout. The piece needed to be easily updatable so we have designed it with a puzzle like technique for future discs to be added by the City of Ryde employees. The striking etch of the first female Mayor, Mrs Edna Wilde OAM, really brings this piece to life.

The below images were supplied to us by the team at City of Ryde. Here you can see current City of Ryde Mayor Jerome Laxale and the first female Mayor and longest serving Councillor, Mrs Edna Wilde OAM unveiling this commemorative piece of art.

Magic Millions - Raceday Awards

The Magic Millions hold a number of prestigious horse racing events throughout the year and we were honoured once again to create their new 2020-2021 awards suite.

The trophies were designed in-house by our creative team who wanted to represent the tools of the trade that are used in hours of training to get racehorses to award winning standards. Our team drew inspiration from the black leather saddles and boots that are a hardy yet luxurious material that feature throughout racing as a sport. Black leather feature panels have been recessed into the sides of the awards, decorated in debossed gold-foiled letters.

We were able to incorporate a native Australian hardwood timber adorned with a laser etch as one of the main features of this trophy. We have accompanied the contrasting tones of the timber and black leather with glossy gold titles plates. These gold plates match the gold foil debossed winners text that run vertically along the leather features.

A timeless design to last many years, these awards exhibit a multitude of construction techniques which radiate a highly refined finish. Contact us today to enquire about a custom design for your event!

Western Australia & Tasmanian Racing Womens Bonus

The Magic Millions Racing Women’s Bonus promotes and showcases women throughout the racing industry and the vital roles they play. This distinction, which has now been running for 9 years, has been an extremely successful initiative.

The Tasmanian and Western Australian trophies reflect this esteemed program, our design team wanted to create awards that were both strong and elegant. The piece was designed to utilise a variety of materials including a glossy rose gold mirror and an Australian native Eucalypt timber. A minimalist racehorse feature has been used as one of the heroes of the piece accompanied by a stylised racetrack shape. An elegant rose gold laser cut has been embedded into the base of the award, framing the laser etched award titles.

Aquis Park Gold Coast - The TAB Wave Raceday

The TAB Wave and Aquis race days held annually at Aquis Park on the Gold Coast was once again a hit this year! The 2021 summer carnival horseracing event features a number of different races, showcasing the best of racing talent over two weekends.

This years awards once again pay homage to the Gold Coast culture, showcasing acrylic and timber surfboard silhouettes. Layers of timber have been mounted to the surfboards to reflect the waves lapping up onto the sand, whilst the clear acrylic symbolises the crystal clear gold coast water. The Aquis Gold Nugget & Aquis Gold Pearl awards include a resin encapsulated pearl and gold nugget in the center of the surfboard. These details create an interesting feature to contrast against the Australian timber elements.

These awards definitely steal the stage, Contact us today to create your next event trophies!

Magic Millions 2021 Gold Coast Racing Womens Bonus

Successfully completing its ninth year, the Magic Millions women’s racing initiative has been a groundbreaking first for women within the horse racing industry. This accolade not only promotes racehorse ownership amongst women, but also highlights the imperative roles performed by females throughout the industry.

This years trophies were designed to reflect this prestigious initiative and showcase the sophistication shown throughout the carnival. Negative space has been left in the center of the award to create a light and airy gesture like the movement of a racehorse galloping when all their legs are completely off the ground. We designed this feature with the idiom, “run like the wind”, in mind.

We were able to utilise a variety of materials to create the desired effect. An aluminium inlay through the centre of these trophies creates an elegant and eye-catching feature. The silver horse motif has been broken down to resemble the different muscle groups of a horse. The use of deep mahogany coloured timber against the clear acrylic and silver elements make this trophy a distinct and high-end piece, perfect for all trophy cabinets.

Gold Coast Turf Club Trophy

We have been lucky enough to work with the Gold Coast Turf Club on multiple occasions, producing a range of different trophies and awards, for their horse racing events. We recently designed a perpetual trophy for the Gold Coast Cup race at the Royal Randwick racetrack in Sydney. A perpetual award allows the client to continue adding winners for years to come, which is a great way to honour a legacy event.

Our team used a mix of materials and techniques to bring this piece to life. Layered and printed acrylic reveals the Surfers Paradise skyline, with the blue ocean hues layered in the background. The blonde Australian timber has pattern details laser cut into the surface to reveal beautiful gold-mirrored embellishments glistening underneath. Gold plaques line the edges of the award to provide spaces for the yearly winners.

The 4217 Australia- Custom Lettering/Wall Displays

One from the archives! The 4217 fit out from 2017 was a very thorough project that included the making and installation of shop signage, building signage, and a mural that featured the brands mission statement. Ensuring that all elements tie together smoothly is something our designers specialise in.

The shop signage features stunning New Guinea Rosewood, with a folded opal acrylic light box to showcase individual branding. These light boxes were an interesting way to grab customers’ attention, promoting the businesses that reside in The 4217.

The main building signage utilises coloured aluminium panel embedded into a greenery wall to create an eye grabbing signage display and making the building easily identifiable.

Botanic Gardens - Signage Fitout

The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens were in need of a signage system that helps educate the public about native flora and fauna. Our design and production team were able to craft an educational, visually pleasing, and long lasting system that meets all requirements set out by the Botanic Gardens.

By using long lasting materials such as aluminium and a high quality vinyl system, these signs are able to withstand the harsh Australian elements. These materials were CNC routed in house to the design specifications given and used in correlation with a powder coated finish in order to match other displays throughout the park.

Nautique – Dealers Awards

One of the more recent projects we have worked on for Nautique are the 2019 Dealers awards. The Nautique brand are always encouraging and rewarding their stockists and staff for their achievements and progress.

The trophies have been designed to be very geometric and angular, which merges in with the Nautique action sport branding. Through the use of timber, acrylic, anodised aluminium and exposed dome screws, this design provides a very tactile and stylish solution for any awards event. Having a gap between the acrylic and aluminium also provides an added sense of depth throughout the piece.

Like the look of anodised aluminium? See how we can utilise it in your next job. Contact us today to find out more.

Sound Society - Feedback Boxes

Our friends at the Brisbane City Council recently approached us again to create feedback boxes for their Sound Society event. These events showcase live music from varying artists, and encourage people to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. A simple design featuring the sound society branding was approved for production.

The production team were able to bring these boxes to life by utilising our CNC Router and joinery techniques. We then laser etched the sliding lid, and assembled to get the finalised product. These boxes are perfect to gain valuable feedback and suggestions from patrons who attend community events, so that considerations can be made for future events.
