Universal Store Gift Card Stand

With 45 retail locations around Australia, Universal Store is one of the most popular retail destinations for modern women and men’s fashions, including youth, street and casual wear. Stocking leading brands such as Adidas, Thrills, Converse, Stussy, Lee, Vans, Wrangler and more, Universal Store also has a successful online shop for those who prefer to shop from the comfort of their computer or phone.

Seeking an elegant display for their gift cards, Universal Store contacted us to create something sleek and polished to match the aesthetic of their recognized national brand. Wanting to keep it simple and fully-functional with a clean look, we used routed plywood timber in a custom size, designed to perfectly suit the brand and display area.

Made to stand on the counter at the point-of-sale area, we added a direct imaged logo, as well as two black plastic coated ‘arms’ for the gift cards to conveniently be placed on. While this custom wooden gift card stand wasn’t too much of a challenge for our top-notch team, the client was happy with the outcome and look of the stands in the stores, and that’s an outcome we’re proud of.

Gold Coast Fishing Custom Trophy

We were contacted by the good folk at Gold Coast Game Fishing Club to create a custom trophy for one of their fishing competitions. The end result is a striking layered trophy made up of laser etched wood and printed acrylic.

SB Architects - Custom Timber Presentation Folders and Display Box

With global locations across San Francisco, Miami and Shenzhen, SB Architects has been an international leader in designing resorts and hotels around the world, in addition to destination communities, custom homes and large scale, multi-family urban mixed-use projects since 1960.

Recent (and prestigious) SB Architects projects include the luxurious Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa in Grand Cayman, The Lodges at Calistoga Ranch in Napa Valley, and La Estrella in stunning Cuzco, Peru, with many more in exotic locations like Puerto Rico, Boca Raton, Montenegro and Costa Del Sol.

Tasked with creating a custom display box and presentation folder design, we chose sleek solid New Guinea rosewood for the custom joinery finished box design. Made to perfectly hold several items of various sizes, including an iPad, presentation folder, phone and even virtual reality goggles, our skilful team members also included a stainless steel inlay both inside the top of the lid and front cover of the folder, perfectly finished to align, leaving it smooth to the touch.

Adding a unique touch to the presentation folder, we finished it with handbound leather details and a leather pocket on the inside, perfectly holding the booklet inside. The finished design is sleek, smart and fully-functional, and SB Architects was very pleased with the outcome.

The Jefferson - Custom Sample-Boards Suitcase Style

We have made many finishings display / samples boards here at Potato Press, but this one was designed a little differently. It was created in the style of an easy carry briefcase that our client could easily transport to and from different sites she was traveling between. Created with a custom leather wrapped outer shell with subtle branding on the outside. We hand wove rope for the handles that were fixed into place with custom solid brass fittings cut in house. The case opens up and lays flat on its back to the viewer can browse through the samples. A lot of small elements add up to create one big impact with this one, we hope you like it as much as we enjoyed putting it together!

A long time client of ours, Nautique came to us for another event they held last year. We created a custom shaped solid hardwood base with laser cut acrylic and solid aluminium elements to keep with their rugged and stylish aesthetic.

Rocky Mountains Percussion Association - Custom Awards

The Rocky Mountain Percussion Association is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit Colorado based youth organization, that was started by a group of percussion instructors, judges and educators who were concerned about the level of percussion training and performance, primarily at the high school level. The RMPA is now one of the nation’s premier percussion organizations of its kind, and asked us to create some awards for their concert open. These laser cut acrylic awards were designed to look as sharp as their recipients!

Hand Bound Portfolio and Case

Here’s a cool custom portfolio created with a feature we haven’t done before; a clear window on top. This allows the viewer to look into the custom leather wrapped cover and look in on the contents inside. It has a stylish black print on matte black acrylic with sleek mechanical spine system. We love this subtle and sophisticated looking folio and hope you do to!

Project Spotlight: Bat Mitzvah Collateral

We count ourselves to be pretty lucky here at Potato Press in that we get to work on some pretty cool projects. Recently we were given the opportunity to put together some customised event collateral and a large scale custom invitation for a high profile Bat Mitzvah in New Jersey.

Designed with a classic Western theme in mind, the client requested a rustic wooden feel for the custom invitations in an effort to highlight the rugged, outdoorsy lifestyle. Utilising the unique skills of our in-house design team – namely graphic design – we went above and beyond in the creation of both the invitations and packaging. Hand finished by our production team, the invitations were packaged and sent off to New Jersey to be hand delivered by a cowboy and cowgirl!

In order to showcase our dedication to originality, we paired different techniques and finishes throughout the delivered product. The main invitation was created using a mix of laser etching, print, layered elements and a custom edge colouring, all accompanied by a printed wooden RSVP and information card wrapped with twine.

In addition to the custom invitations, we also manufactured table numbers, table place cards, menus, serving boards, signing boards for guests as well as a fun logo brand for burning into hamburgers.

Balter Brewing Company - Custom 3D Printed Awards

This was a fun project for the guys and gals over at Balter Brewing Company for their “Tins of Glory” beer can sliding competition. We printed the gold hand utilising our in house 3d printer, and created a custom base with ‘stringer’ accents running through it.
