A long time client of ours, Nautique came to us for another event they held last year. We created a custom shaped solid hardwood base with laser cut acrylic and solid aluminium elements to keep with their rugged and stylish aesthetic.

The Rocky Mountain Percussion Association is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit Colorado based youth organization, that was started by a group of percussion instructors, judges and educators who were concerned about the level of percussion training and performance, primarily at the high school level. The RMPA is now one of the nation’s premier percussion organizations of its kind, and asked us to create some awards for their concert open. These laser cut acrylic awards were designed to look as sharp as their recipients!

Here’s a cool custom portfolio created with a feature we haven’t done before; a clear window on top. This allows the viewer to look into the custom leather wrapped cover and look in on the contents inside. It has a stylish black print on matte black acrylic with sleek mechanical spine system. We love this subtle and sophisticated looking folio and hope you do to!

We count ourselves to be pretty lucky here at Potato Press in that we get to work on some pretty cool projects. Recently we were given the opportunity to put together some customised event collateral and a large scale custom invitation for a high profile Bat Mitzvah in New Jersey.
Designed with a classic Western theme in mind, the client requested a rustic wooden feel for the custom invitations in an effort to highlight the rugged, outdoorsy lifestyle. Utilising the unique skills of our in-house design team – namely graphic design – we went above and beyond in the creation of both the invitations and packaging. Hand finished by our production team, the invitations were packaged and sent off to New Jersey to be hand delivered by a cowboy and cowgirl!
In order to showcase our dedication to originality, we paired different techniques and finishes throughout the delivered product. The main invitation was created using a mix of laser etching, print, layered elements and a custom edge colouring, all accompanied by a printed wooden RSVP and information card wrapped with twine.
In addition to the custom invitations, we also manufactured table numbers, table place cards, menus, serving boards, signing boards for guests as well as a fun logo brand for burning into hamburgers.

This was a fun project for the guys and gals over at Balter Brewing Company for their “Tins of Glory” beer can sliding competition. We printed the gold hand utilising our in house 3d printer, and created a custom base with ‘stringer’ accents running through it. Check out the promo video down the bottom to see what it’s all about!

This was a cool little project for Brisbane’s City Sounds. This timber a-frame had interchangeable letters so the message could be updated and the frame could be re-used.

It’s the details that count, and this is far from short of those.
The internal box is custom joinery finished solid Australian timber with dovetail joins, to perfectly accommodate the portfolio within. The lid of the box is a custom pattern that was laser cut and slides open to reveal the inside. The outer shell is a custom leather bound folder that meets in the middle with a couple of gorgeous handles with tassels for a bit of flair. We created a smaller leather bound box to ‘roll’ open to reveal two usb’s and a custom made coin as a ‘leave-behind’ box.
As this was made for a portfolio, we’re sure that this will make a huge impact with whoever looks through it.

The Queensland Museum Network holds exclusive license to host the World Science Festival in the Asia Pacific, reinforcing Australia’s position as a knowledge economy and igniting new and challenging discussions in and about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). The Event had a turn out of 120,367 attendances – double what was anticipated. 247 participants and exhibitors from 10 countries showing all kinds of Science goodness. So it was great fun working in conjunction with Sharon Penny some ‘sciency’ sculptures for both entrances. We used a varying combination of materials to create a molecular inspired piece, and a multifaceted crystal-like structure mounted to preexisting trusses.

Kicking off both the men’s and women’s WSL World Championship Tours, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast was held at the renowned local surf spot, Snapper Rocks, in mid March 2017. Featuring some of the world’s best surfers, including Kelly Slater, John John Florence, Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore, among others, the event brought spectators by the thousands to the warm white sands of Coolangatta.
Tasked with the honourable duty of creating customised competition trophies for the contest winners, we went all out to create a product that reflected both our love for the ocean and Australia’s natural beauty.
With a desire to utilise quality local materials, we chose locally sourced, native Australian timber to pay homage to the origins and location of the competition, using the timber as both the backdrop and frame for the trophies. For the central focal point and inner portion, we created a unique and stylised birds eye view of Snapper Rocks, accomplished by overlaying laser cut coloured acrylics in order to portray the point break waves that Snapper Rocks is so known for. Lastly, we layered laser cut timbers to represent the surrounding sand and rocks, creating a final cohesive look that speaks to both the location and overall surfer lifestyle.
After a fierce and exciting competition, surfer Owen Wright powered through the finals to become the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast Champion alongside runner up and fellow Aussie surfer, Matt Wilkinson. In the women’s competition, Aussie surfer Stephanie Gilmore took home the top trophy, while American Lakey Peterson snagged runner up.
Our trophies glimmered in the well-deserved winners’ arms at the end of their fierce display of skill, and we continue to show our support for the sport of surfing, both locally and beyond.
