Jim Moran - Custom Layered Awards

Founded by Jim Moran in 1984, the Youth Automotive Training Center (YATC) educates disadvantaged youth in basic automotive repair, academic remediation, job readiness and life management skills. YATC students have the opportunity to learn a trade, plan for the future and become productive members of the community.
These awards were created for the Jump Start Golf event that helps raise funds to keep the training center running at the highest possible standard. We used a combination of perspex and laser etched custom timbers to create this modern award.
As part of the Unleashed Festival , FYA holds the annual Unleashed Awards, where they celebrate the achievements and diversity of Australia’s young dreamers, doers, thinkers and creators. So here are some cool trophies built for the event. Using laser cut acrylic and joinery finished native hardwood timber, we created something quite fun and stylish.
A charming coffee house and restaurant located in Byron Bay, The Roadhouse features a menu of nourishing whole foods, gathering much of their inspiration and ingredients through sustainable farming and sourcing of the best locally-grown produce. Featuring a rotating daily menu of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner items proudly displayed on their Hunter & Gatherers Board, The Roadhouse is an Australian staple for foodies, locals and visitors alike.
Tasked with creating a custom cover for their in-house espresso machine, we laser-etched the popular ‘Roady’ branding onto beautiful native hardwood timber, reflecting their passion for the use of natural materials. Adding classic joinery design and a simple laser-etched ‘Take Away’ under the custom branding, we are proud of our latest work for this sustainable, eco-conscious local business.

Custom Made Timber Art Easels

Here are some custom constructed timber easels made from pine and hardwood blackbutt joinery elements with solid brass clips to hold artworks in place. With it’s subtle elements and quality materials, we love this simple and rugged design.
With 59 offices and 615 company-owned stores in a total of 150 countries, Fossil is an easily-recognisable American watch and lifestyle company focusing on quality leathers, watches, jewellery, accessories and more, all made with an authentic vintage feel and classic design.
In celebration of the recent graduates of their 2016 Pursuit Leadership Development Program, Fossil contacted us to craft Custom Awards for the ceremony.
Highlighting their design style of “clean lines of the mid-century meets the modern look of today,” we combined the raw elements of hardwood timber with the clean lines of brass-finished components and a black-on-black background. Laser-etching was used to add recipients’ names to the awards, as well as a cheetah and slogan, “Leadership is the Pursuit of Excellence,” on each custom-shaped award.
The subtle cheetah print behind the Fossil logo also shows the careful consideration and skill achieved on each piece.
Legacy Lantern

This is a custom made lantern we designed and produced for Legacy. Designed to fit an electric tealight in the base with the light beaming out from the laser cut logos on the side panels. They are re-usable so that Legacy can utilise them for events and functions in the future.
Major League Hacking Award

Created for hackers, by hackers, Major League Hacking (MLH) is a North American and European organization with 65,000 students across 16 countries. Home to an official student hackathon league, MLH hosts over 200 weekend-long invention competitions that inspire innovation, cultivate communities and teach computer science skills to the next generation of tech leaders around the globe.
In honour of their North American Spring 2016 Hacking Awards, MLH contacted us to produce custom trophies for their esteemed award recipients. Since the organization includes such a large number of participants, pinpointing a collaborative design that captures the essence of the company was a challenge, and one that we were excited to take on.
With custom designed laser cutting technology and printed perspex layered together and mounted into a custom built base, the octagonal award was well-received by both the founders and Hacking Award recipients.

Macrostone Custom Display Box

Founded to provide quality, innovative natural stone products across Australia, Macrostone has built an all-encompassing community of architects, landscape designers, interior designers, distributors, builders, trade contractors and retail customers with a love for unique stone designs in both commercial and residential spaces.
As part of Macrostone’s sales team, stone and marble samples are part of the everyday tool kit, necessary for showcasing their passion for quality product and inventive design possibilities.
Briefed with creating a Custom Display Box, we crafted a sleek rectangular box, perfectly fitting the various samples for easy showing. As a branded addition the project, we added a custom sliding lid with the Macrostone logo, including an easy-to-slide handle and modern design.
Live Strong Custom Trophy

Here is a custom trophy we created for Live Strong. Manufactured from a custom laser etched veneer and printed clear perspex. We also managed to incorporate their signature yellow wristband into the trophy. All finished and sent to Virginia in the US.
Coopers Aged Timber Tap Decals

Now in its 6th generation, Coopers Brewery is the oldest family-owned and run brewery in all of Australia. With a long-running legacy of quality beers, modern innovation and brewing tradition, Coopers recently released a seasonal run of aged beers, including the Extra Strong Vintage Ale, delicious Amber Ale, and Brew-A in honour of founder Thomas Coopers’ first ever beer recipe.
With a brief to create a custom line of beer decals for the Coopers seasonal line, we opted for an authentic, aged look by combining different timbers and finishes to create a layered look, adding depth and texture to the final product.
Drawing inspiration from the brand’s history, we proudly created the Coopers Aged Timber Tap Decals, featuring red and yellow colouring, beer barrel imagery, and nods to their distinguished presence in Australia.
We produced quite a large quantity so keep an eye out for them at a bar near you.
Burleigh Brewing Timber Esky Covers

Here’s another project that required some problem solving, which we love doing! This time it was for Burleigh Brewing and their keg beer cooling system they use when they are offsite at events. They wanted to cover the eyesore which was the blue esky, so that the potential customers would be able to see something nice with clear Burleigh Brewing branding.
The cover had to not only look good, but needed to function and be easily setup. So we came up with this timber surround with laser engraved logos. We added a hinged lid and handles which aided in setup and access to the internal system while serving beer at events. Keep an eye out for it at craft beer events and stop by for a cheeky brew.
