Nitrocross Medals 2024

We were recently contacted by the team at Nitrocross to create a fresh new concept for their 2024 event medals. The goal was to create a unique design that was a modern take on the traditional medal. The design team took careful consideration in choosing materials that aligned with their signature colours. The final result combined layered black and brushed metallics, enhanced with printed text and logos to give the medals a sleek, modern aesthetic.

To distinguish the different rankings, we incorporated a striking combination of gold, silver, and bronze, adding a dynamic touch to each piece. The finished product was a creative twist on the classic medal design, offering something fresh while still honouring tradition.

Collaborating with the Nitrocross team was an absolute pleasure, and we’re excited about the results. If you’re looking for a custom design for your next event, we’d love to help bring your vision to life. Reach out to us today to get started!

Surf Lifesaving SA Awards 2023

Surf Life Saving South Australia approached us with the exciting opportunity to reimagine their annual awards, seeking a design that embodies a quintessential Australian beach theme, reminiscent of our past collaborations with the organization. Inspired by the iconic red and yellow flags that grace Australian beaches, our design team opted to integrate these vibrant colours into the awards using opaque coloured acrylic. This thoughtful choice allowed the natural beauty of the timber block beneath to shine through, adding a touch of organic charm.

Each layer of colour was strategically offset to enhance depth and visual intrigue around the block. For a final touch of elegance, the Surf Life Saving SA logo was intricately laser-etched onto the block, enriching the award with a tactile element.

We thoroughly enjoyed crafting this distinctive, Australian-themed award and would be delighted to discuss how we can bring your next project to life. Contact us today to begin your creative journey with us!

Kyma Samples Box

We were recently contacted by the team at Sandbox Properties to design and craft a samples box for their upcoming luxury development, Kyma, on the vibrant Gold Coast. This collaboration marks our second project in the same style with the esteemed Sandbox team, following our successful creation of a similar samples box in the past—widely praised for its distinctive design.

Our skilled in-house joinery team handcrafted the box using native Australian timber. The exterior was bound with natural-coloured fabrics to align with the development’s branding, creating a seamless visual identity. To further emphasize the brand, we showcased the development’s logo and tagline on both the inside and outside of the box.

What sets this samples box apart is its innovative approach to engagement. A removable panel within the box features captivating images and detailed descriptions of the materials slated for use in development, providing potential buyers with a comprehensive overview. Nestled beneath this panel are physical samples of each material, allowing interested parties to touch and feel the textures firsthand. This tactile and interactive element adds a unique dimension to the overall experience, making it memorable for anyone exploring the possibilities.

Magic Millions 2024 Awards

Each year, our team eagerly anticipates the opportunity to craft distinctive awards for the prestigious Magic Millions events. This year presented a fresh challenge as we were tasked with creating a new design for the 2023-2024 awards suite.

After careful consideration, our design team embarked on a creative journey, selecting an intricate half-tone etching of a racehorse as the centrepiece for the awards. This bold choice ultimately captured the attention and admiration of the Magic Millions team. After considerable time in the preliminary production stages, our design team were able to bring out the most intricate details of the horse image into the halftone etch.

To further elevate the design, each award was sculptured using two pieces of timber skilfully crafted to create eye-catching curved edges. The addition of a gold mirror detail infused an element of elegance, perfectly complementing the prestigious nature of the event. To finish the awards, the race details and logos were laser etched onto the award.

Pho3nix Sports Awards 2023

The Pho3nix Sports Awards celebrate athletes who exemplify excellence in sports and embody the values of the Pho3nix Foundation, a global non-profit dedicated to engaging children in physical activities and nurturing their journey to elite sport.

We were approached to design the awards for their 2023 event, with a focus on incorporating the brand logo as a central element. After careful consideration, we designed the centrepiece of the trophy around a clear acrylic window, showcasing a the Pho3nix logo. This created a visually captivating focal point to house the brushed silver letters of the logo. The top hero piece of the award was crafted from the Pho3nix brand icon. The award details were delicately laser-etched onto the base, we opted for native Australian timber as the primary material, enhancing the elegance of this award.

Magic Millions QTIS Trophies 2023

The Magic Millions QTIS Open is a prestigious $1 million dollar race held annually on ‘The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Raceday’ at the enchanting Gold Coast turf club. Each race within the Magic Millions series boasts a one-of-a-kind trophy design and we were honoured again to embark on a creative journey for the design and production of the QTIS Open trophies.

Our design team worked with Native Australian timbers and opted to design the base of the award with an octagonal shape that was simple yet elegant. The base was accentuated with a black inset, adding depth and achieving a visually balanced composition with the trophy’s top. Atop the trophy, a striking black horse took centre stage. Working with the amazing team at the Magic Millions, we ensured the horse on top of the award corresponded with the direction the racehorses run around the Gold Coast track. To add the final touches to this masterpiece, our team employed laser etching techniques to seamlessly incorporate logos and text onto the trophy’s body.

ISS Pacific Inspire Awards 2023

ISS, a distinguished leader in workplace experience and facility management, consistently delivers innovative placemaking solutions that elevate business performance while simplifying and enhancing the lives of their valued clients.

Working with ISS again this year, the challenge was to breathe new life into last year’s award, incorporating a stunning Indigenous artwork titled “Belonging,” skilfully crafted by artist Stephen Hogarth, a proud descendent of the Gamilaroi Nation. Our design team skilfully dissected the intricate elements of Hogarth’s masterpiece. These elements were then thoughtfully arranged to produce a mesmerising 3D effect. We took great care to follow the natural curves of the artwork, extending the flow of the design onto laser-cut timber that now forms a captivating central feature, drawing the viewer’s gaze toward the heart of the trophy.

To ensure a polished finish, our in-house joinery team hand finished the awards resulting in a sleek and clean appearance. The award details and a well-deserved acknowledgment of the artist were etched onto both the front and back of the trophy, adding the final touch to this piece.

Weruva Pet Foods 2023 Awards

Our latest venture brought us into the vibrant world of Weurva Pet Foods, a cherished U.S. based family-owned business founded back in 2006. We were contacted by the team at Weruva to create some fun and unique awards for their annual award ceremony.

Weruva’s team, with a clear design vision in mind, collaborated with us to craft a set of bespoke awards. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s lively identity—filled with playful colours and quirky icons—we aimed to infuse each award with the spirit of Weruva.

QLD Government Department of Environment and Science Excellence Awards 2023

The Department of Environment and Science of the Queensland Government is dedicated to being a driving force and collaborative partner in the management, protection, and restoration of Queensland’s natural environment and heritage. Their commitment extends to ensuring the well-being and prosperity of both current and future generations.

Our longstanding client reached out to us with a special request—to design and produce awards for the 2023 Excellence Awards. Given the department’s unwavering focus on environmental conservation, they sought an option that aligned with their values—a sustainable solution that was 100% recycled.

In response, our team embarked on a mission to find materials that embodied both the essence of sustainability and the spirit of the awards. After careful consideration, we identified reclaimed timber from an old farm post as the ideal medium. Infused with love and meticulous attention to detail, our team transformed this weathered wood into the very foundation of the awards.

Each award bears the distinctive marks and traces of its former life, with the presence of old nails adding a touch of character and individuality to every block. To preserve the integrity of the 100% recycled nature, our team used laser etching techniques to adorn the blocks with carefully chosen text and unique illustrations provided by their talented internal creative team.

Griffith University 2023 Alumni Awards

Griffith University has been a valued, long-term client of ours. Over the years, we have had the privilege of designing awards for their prestigious alumni event. However, this year, the Griffith team approached us with a request to infuse their refreshed branding and event collateral into the design.

The primary aim of these alumni awards is to honour the outstanding achievements of Griffith’s alumni. It’s a platform to recognize the diverse accomplishments of these alumni, spanning a wide range of fields and their contributions to their communities.

For this year’s event, the branding incorporated Griffith’s signature red colour, but with a unique twist—a red sparkle design. This distinctive element was used in various aspects of the event, from the event webpage to email signatures and other promotional materials. The design team made the creative choice to extend this branding feature to the awards themselves.

Each award featured transparent red and white circles printed across multiple acrylic layers. This intricate design produced a captivating 3D effect that added a new dimension to the awards. A clear acrylic window was strategically placed on the back of each trophy. This thoughtful touch allowed natural light to pass through, introducing an additional layer of depth and enhancing the overall aesthetic.

To bring the design to life, our in-house joinery team skilfully hand finished the awards, providing a high-quality timber finish. The award details were laser-etched onto the body, ensuring precision and clarity.

Warrma Piipa Message Stick

Renowned First Nations musician and the world’s foremost didgeridoo virtuoso, William Barton, has embarked on a remarkable collaboration with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO). Together, they are spearheading an ambitious new initiative that seeks to nurture the next generation of storytellers and songsmiths, inviting them to join in crafting a harmonious ode to the land.

Titled “Warrma piipa ngatji patija; kutu patija; ngata waru” (translated as “Songbook: My Story; Your Story; Our Journey”), this multi-year endeavor commenced in the heart of William Barton’s ancestral homeland, Mount Isa/Kalkadoon, with a sacred Ceremony marking the beginning of this unique partnership with QSO. Over the course of this journey, William Barton and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra will traverse various communities, including Cairns/Yarrabah, Rockhampton/Woorabinda, Gold Coast/Yugambeh, Charleville/Bidjara, finishing in Mount Isa/Kalkadoon.

The visionary concept of this venture was brought to life through a collaboration with Biren Consultancy, tasked with designing and crafting a contemporary message stick. This innovative message stick was intended to accompany William and the QSO team throughout their travels, symbolizing the interconnectedness of their journey.

To bring this modern message stick to fruition, our dedicated team engaged in a series of design and production meetings in house and with Biren Consultancy. With beautiful native Australian Spotted Gum timber as the primary material, we adorned the message stick with laser-etched Indigenous artwork, logos, and text, honouring the rich cultural heritage of the endeavor. To secure the USB drive and GPS tracking device, recessed cavities were carefully integrated into the message stick, topped with a secure plate to guarantee their safe passage.

The message stick incorporated state-of-the-art technology, featuring a GPS tracking device that allowed online monitoring of the message stick’s progress. Furthermore, it housed a USB drive designed to store footage and music from each event, ensuring that the rich tapestry of experiences and expressions could be shared with each new community along the way.
