Mosaic Property Group - Residential Finish Boards

Mosaic Property Group reached out to us recently regarding the production of some new sample boards for their latest showroom. These sample boards are used to display interior and exterior finishes in upcoming developments. The design was configured around the idea that these boards would snuggly fit within their drawer system at the display suite and can be easily lifted out and put onto the counter top. With those requirements in mind our designers put together a fabulous concept, which brings life to a standard samples display.

Utilising our in house machinery we built custom trays out of solid Tasmanian Oak timber, featuring perfect mitred joints & easily accessible handles. The samples are arranged to fit within the box, and are bordered by an elegant white cover plate with printed titles that dictate what the sample is used for. These boards highlight the available finishes within the developments, whilst also containing them to manageable easy to use displays.

The Sound Society - A Frame

The Sound Society is a free event, hosted by Brisbane City Council, which allows talented musicians to put on a show for the general public. Offering laid back tunes, on site food vendors, and plenty of space for a picnic rug, these events shouldn’t be missed!

This A-Frame has been designed to bring a new edge to and old classic. The timber and print combination allow for vibrant imagery yet give a soft more organic feel with the timber grain coming through. These are a great choice for events, cafes, restaurants, and businesses that want to advertise their services in an eye catching way.

NASA - Interactive Awards

We recently had the huge privilege to work with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland on a very special project. The Goddard space flight center has “More than 50 Goddard spacecraft explore Earth and soar through the solar system, collecting observations to be parsed and studied by scientists around the world. Goddard’s missions support multiple scientific disciplines, including Earth science, solar science and the sun-Earth environment, planetary studies and astrophysics.” (https://www.nasa.gov/goddard)

For this project we were asked to design and create an interactive award. The award needed to relate to the scientific nature of the center and also be structurally sound for the next 10 years, as this was to be a perpetual award. After much research, we decided to design a rolling ball maze game. In total we created two awards, the Science award, which was based around our solar system, and the Engineering award, which was based around the satellite missions that have launched from the flight center. The rolling ball maze game has been designed for a space marble to roll around a maze, through and behind planets, stars and satellites and into the center of the award. The maze can be quite a feat considering the award stands at 23 inches tall!

Besides the interactive maze game in the center of the award, this award also features 3D laser etched timber details, engraveable plaques on the sides of the awards for the winning recipients and gold metallic mirror details to give the awards a retro arcade game feel.

Our clients were thrilled with the outcome and so were we! If you have an project that needs some creative flare, Contact us today to find out how we can help.

Magic Millions - Women's Bonus

We were very lucky at the end of last year to be involved in a project that is all about supporting women! The Magic Millions racing women’s bonus is all about recognising women in racing and racehorse ownership amongst women. Now in its eighth year, this incentive is promoting the important roles played by women in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. We were approached by the Magic Millions to design an iconic award that would represent the importance of the race.

These stunning trophies feature a mixture of electroplated metals in several types of finishes to create a beautifully unique 3D effect. The racehorse motif was designed around the main muscles a horse uses to gallop. These lines were also stylised to reflect the waves of the iconic Gold Coast beaches. The metals along with the cut out relief areas allow depth and movement in the piece.

The species of timber used in this piece grows native to the Gold Coast and also has a warm sandy tone to it. The timber has been laser etched which brings another tactile element to the award.

These elements combined create a sophisticated, 3D layered trophy, truly meant for a race winner.

QLD Government – Premiers Awards for Excellence 2019

The Premier’s Awards for Excellence is an initiative of the Queensland Government to acknowledge the exemplary work by individuals and teams across the Queensland public sector. We had the amazing opportunity to design and produce these trophies for the Queensland government to present at their ceremony.

The design was based around the existing event brand collateral, in particular the multi-coloured star motif representing the different categories. It features acrylic printed elements that promote the award category and the winners. We’ve incorporated a South-east Queensland timber into this trophy. Where possible, we like to use timbers that are relevant to our client’s projects, especially for location specific events as it allows the winners to take a “part” of Queensland home with them.

Tesla Dash - Etch

Every now and again we get to do a cool, left of field passion project.

Our client came to us looking for a special memorial piece to be completed on the dashboard of his Tesla Car. He had a very specific design in mind; so with the help of our creative team we were able to reproduce his vision. The piece was etched on to a Tesla Model 3 wooden dash, and then reinstalled in to the car.

This was a unique project that showcased a beautiful message, an endeavour we were delighted to be involved in. Take a look below at some of the beautiful photos our client Ben has taken of his Tesla.

“A tremendous thank you to the entire Potato Press team for professionally & rapidly executing on such a delicate project. Incredibly accommodating and experienced, Rod & the crew know very well the process of turning a unique idea into reality. Looking forward to any excuse I might find to work with you guys again. Thankyou!” – Ben

Nautique – Marketing Awards 2019

Once again we have had the pleasure to work with Nautique on their 2019 international and domestic marketing awards. For this year’s awards, we have based the design around a custom 3D acrylic feature encased in a black stained timber. The 3D acrylics create the numbers “2019” to recognize the corresponding event year.  The red acrylic on the black timber creates a nice contrast and allows the color to “pop”. Clear and chrome acrylics are also featured on this award to bring an industrial touch which ties into the mechanical nature of the Nautique brand.

QLD Government – Recognition of Excellence 2019

The Department of Housing and Public works have a number of divisions in which they recognise excellence. The ‘ROE’ Awards recognise people and companies within the community who are doing great things.

We were asked to incorporate some of the clients own materials in to this trophy. Our design team were able to feature the Department of Housing and Public works’ own stone. Pairing the stone with 30mm thick acrylic,  adding laser etching in combination with UV Imaging , has resulted in a stylish and personalised trophy.

By incorporated a natural substrate such as stone, the awards each have their own personality.

The trophies came out looking awesome!

Feel free to reach out and discuss what we can incorporate in to your design.

Botero – Chopping Boards

Last year we were lucky enough to help out with some laser etched promotional boards for Botero. We think the laser etching looks great against a classic timber finish.

The Botero logo seen here has been laser etched on to a variety of serving boards, to be sold within the Botero store. This technique allows us to stay within the natural style of the brand, while also remaining food safe. We believe these boards make wonderful gifts and further promote the business.

Botero Coffee Roasters are passionate about all things coffee & tea. Located in Maclean, NSW, they believe in collaborating with passionate and hard working people.

The boards look awesome, and also we just love their coffee!

Yokohama - HARD CHARGER GT3 Cup Challenge

We were lucky enough to work with Yokohama USA on another batch of awards at the end of last year. We’ve incorporated a strong mechanical presence into these awards as well as keeping a sleek overall look.

We have used clear acrylics to create a 3D design effect of the track map; the clear acrylics create an almost holographic look. The strong red and black colours dominant the award and tie directly back into the brand. We have used a black timber effect that allows the stark white track titles to ‘pop’. The award is finished off with stainless steel bolts and a silver mirror acrylic to mimic a chrome effect to bring an mechanical feel to the award.

Botero - Coffee Roasters

Some artworks just work perfectly when laser etched, and the guys over at Botero Coffee Roasters have just one of those logos that looks great when imaged on to a nice timber.

The Botero family began in 2003 with Clarence Valley local Danny Young. A man with an eye for detail, a keen palate, and big ideas.
Together, with the help of his partner Jilly, they created what we now know as Botero. Today, they are still located in the Clarence Valley, collaborating & creating with a strong team of likeminded & passionate people to deliver the highest quality coffee and tea to their customers.

These outdoor signs will surely catch peoples eyes!
